Alberta to Lents, by Bike

fulltrailer_CropThe largest bike move in Portland history took place this weekend, helping two new neighbors move from a house on N Alberta to our neck of the woods around 85th Ave. The route was about 10 miles, and took 3 hours from load to unload.

Just under 70 people joined in to make the move go smoothly, filling their backpacks, panniers, trailers and cargo bikes of all sizes.

The conventional moving-by-truck route along the freeway was out of the question, so the parade of bikes wound through the neighborhood, zig-zagging along the City neighborhood greenway streets.

KOIN has a video of the event.

Oh dear. Sometimes Portlandia has skits that make me say “sure, that sounds Portland-ish, but surely they’re making that up.” Nope. :-)
