Foster Road Roundup

Looks like a busy week on Foster Road. Here’s the latest on community projects, group meetings  and other special events which caught the eyes of the FU crew.

Monday

Last night the Mt. Scott-Arleta Neighborhood Association hosted a discussion on starting a neighborhood foot patrol as a way to address safety issues in the neighborhood. They’ve got an awesome blog, and I’m sure we’ll hear more about how it went soon. Is this something you want to start on your area of Foster?


Tuesday

Little Free Libraries

6:30 pm – Holgate Library – 7905 SE Holgate

Lents activists are starting a “Little Free Libraries” project. They are looking for families, individuals or businesses to sponsor the small book repositories. The first meeting is tonight, all interested and inspired people should attend.


Thursday

Free Acupuncture Day

Working Class Acupuncture  – 5814 SE 92nd Ave – 503-477-7115

All day Thursday Working Class Acupuncture is offering free acupuncture. This is the perfect opportunity to try it out and see what all the fuss is about.


Laurelwood Park Community Workshop

6pm – Bar Carlo (6433 Foster Rd)

Neighborhood Coalition Group the Foster Green EcoDistrict is organizing a community-based plan to refresh Laurelwood Park.  This vision will be the stepping stone to ask for funding for implementation, and it is important to have broad community support and input. Do you have new ideas for Laurelwood Park?


Friday

Paintings by Paz Art Opening

6PM – NWIPA (6350 SE Foster Rd)

Check out the paintings of Patrick Zahn, and enjoy live music and art readings.


Ransom Karaoke

8 pm – Eagle Eye Tavern (5836 SE 92nd Ave)

A fun, new twist on karaoke to raise money for Green Lents programs like the Community Tool Library and Watershed Health Project. Bring your friends and family and buy songs to make THEM entertain you. Fun for all 21+ at the Eagle Eye Tavern, starts at 8:00 p.m. Cash and credit card donations will be accepted.
