OK, well, it’s a DRAFT of the recommendation, but it’s a start. The Advisory Committee for the Foster Road Streetscape Plan has been meeting for over 10 months now to work with PBOT on an exploration designed to answer one question:
What will Foster Road look like in the future?
Finally, after committee meetings, public open houses, neighborhood mailings, and presentations to neighborhood associations and the business association, here we are:
52nd to 72nd
72nd t 82nd
82nd to 88th
PBOT will be bringing this first pass at a cross section recommendation to the committee this Wendesday, October 23rd to get our opinion. This recommendation is culmination of discussions and analysis, and reflect what the City heard from us, and what they think is achievable on our street.
PBOT offers up a brief memo clarifying their position on these cross sections and expaining the details of why and how these were selected. Please read the memo to get bigger understanding of how this design came about.
There are some hard decisions to make, and there is no doubt that some people on the committee and in the neighborhoods will not be agree 100% with the recommended cross section. Thankfully, the recommendation is not set in stone. This meeting brings an opportunity to weigh in on the recommendation and make some adjustments before it goes to council.
If you have thoughts, concerns about these, please come to the meeting, let your committee representative know, or email Maricio Leclerc, the project planner, directly at Mauricio.Leclerc@portlandoregon.gov
